Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Biography
With Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali films in her kitty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one most the most versatile and successful actresses of Bollywood. Born on 1st November 1973 in an ethnic Bunt family in Mangalore Karnataka to Krishnaraj, a biologist and his wife Brindya, Rai has an elder brother Aditya Rai, an engineer who also takes keen interest in films. This generous woman was eager to pursue a career in medicine because of her love for zoology. She went to-

But all her plans of becoming an architect or take up medicine lost its charm in front of modeling.This trained classical dancer was offered her first modeling contract in ninth standard by camlin pencils.Vohue magazine has been a favourite with Rai with her first pictures being published in Vogue after the Ford Supermodel Contest in 1991. Her modeling with big names and for big companies gave her instant popularity.
A star fell upon our actress in the year 1994 and she won both the Miss India World and Miss World title along with the Miss Photogenic award. Her studies took a setback ans she focused primarily on acting. Rai made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film ‘Iruvar’, a critical success. Her Bollywood debut was opposite Bobby Deol in an unsuccessful film ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gya’(1997).Her critical acclaimation came with the tamil movie ‘Jeans’(1998). Success touched her feet with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’(1999) and the Filmfare Best Actress Award. She also participated in a world tour called the ‘Magnificent Five’ along with Amir Khan, Rani Mukherji, Akshay Kahnna and twinkle Khanna.‘Taal’91999), ‘Josh’(2000) and ‘Devdas’(2002) portrayed different personalities and Rai took all of them with ease winning another Filmfare Best Actress Award for Devdas.

However her seven minute dance sequel in ‘Bunty aur Bubli’ was highly popular. 2005 was the year of charitable works for Rai and she became the brand ambassador of Pulse Polio and a spokesperson for the Internation Year of Microcredit. She also performed with Bollywood stars at the HELP Telethon Concert to raise money for Tsunami victims.
This enthralling woman made her next blockbuster with ‘Dhoom2’ with a sensual role. ‘Guru’(2007) and ‘Last legion’(2007) were again a flop. But ‘Provoked’(2007) was screened in the Cannes Film Festival. Her ‘Sarkaar’(2008) was a critical and commercial success and ‘Enthiran(2010) is the highest grossing Indian Film. She laid the foundation of a school for underprivileged girls in Uttar Pradesh along with the Bachchan family. She is also the Goodwill Ambassador of Smile Train.
Married to Abhishek Bachchan on 20th April 2007 accoding to traditional Hindu rites of the Bunt community, Rai lives peacefully with the Bachchan family and her daughter Aradhya Bachchan, born on 16 November 2011.
