Dr. K. Anji Reddy Childhood/Education – Dr Kallam Anji Reddy was born in 1940 in Tadepalli region of Guntur district. He has done B.Sc in Pharmaceuticals and Fine chemicals from Bombay University. Thereafter he did his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the National Chemical Laboratory in 1969. From 1969 to 1975, he had served in PSU Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited. He founded Uniloids Ltd and served as a Managing Director from 1976 to 1980. He also served as managing director of Standard Organics Limited from 1980 to 1984.

Work Life – Dr. K. Anji Reddy established Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories in 1984 and soon the company had registered phenomenal growth in the Indian Pharmaceutical industry. It led to the transformation of Indian bulk drug industry from import-dependent to self-reliant and then into the export-oriented industry within a span of one decade. Dr. Reddy’s was the first company to start drug discovery research in India in 1993. It was the first Asian pharmaceutical company to list on NYSE in 2001 that do not belong to Japan. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories became the second largest pharmaceutical company of India in 2005.

Achievements – Dr Reddy’s is the founder and the chairman of Dr Reddy’s Group of Companies. He has been awarded with Padma Shri in 2001 and has successfully proven as a pioneer in the pharmaceutical research in India. Apart from his business achievements, Dr Reddy also did great job as a philanthropist. He founded Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Human & Social Development that is working actively to bring about sustainable development.

Dr. K. Anji Reddy is a proud recipient of many awards and honours such as Sir PC Ray award (in 1984 and 1992); FAPA-Ishidate Award for Pharmaceutical Research in 1998; Businessman of the Year in 2001; Achiever of the Year award in the year 2000, the ‘Hall of Fame’ award in 2005 for his remarkable contribution to the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry.

Dhiru Bhai Ambani ChildHood/Education – Dhirubhai Ambani was born on December 28, 1932, in a Modh Family at Chorwad, Gujarat. He was the son of a school teacher. He showcased his geniuses in business at a very early age when he sold “bhajias” to the pilgrims that used to visit Mount Girnar during the weekends. He moved to Aden in Yemen for earning after completing his matriculation at an age of 16. He served as a gas-station attendant and a clerk in Oil Company. He came back to India in 1958 with Rs 50,000 and founded textile trading company.

Work Life – Dhiru Bhai showed a great temperament for business and made exponential growth. His phenomenal rise in the Indian industry has been one of the most landmark events in the Indian Business. He along with his two sons, Mukesh and Anil created Reliance India Limited from the beginning and it became the largest private sector company of the India. Dhiru Bhai Ambani was a man of great vision and he diversified his business into a core specialisation including petrochemicals information technology, energy, telecommunications, power, textiles, retail, infrastructure services, logistics and capital markets.

Achievements – Dhirubhai Ambani is being widely appreciated for shaping the India’s equity culture. His initiative has attracted millions of retail investors in the market that was dominated by financial institutions. He had led to the revolution of the capital markets and issues public offer to generate funds for his ever increasing businesses. His efforts generated billions of rupees for people who trusted his companies. His efforts led to the creation of equity cult in the Indian capital market. Reliance ruled the stock markets in 1980s with innovative instruments like the convertible debentures.

Reliance became the first Indian company in 1992 that raised the money in global markets because of its high credit-taking in international markets. It is also the first Indian company to feature in Forbes 500 list. Dhirubhai Ambani was awarded with “Indian Entrepreneur of the 20th Century” by (FICCI). He was regarded as the greatest creator of wealth as per the poll results.

Biography - JRD Tata

Childhood – JRD Tata was born on July 29, 1904 in Paris to a Parsi family. His complete name was Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata. He inherited his business wisdom from his father and great-great grandfather Ervad Jamsheed Tata. He received his education in France, Japan and England. He served in French army for a mandatory one-year period. In 1925, he joined Tata & Sons as an unpaid apprentice. He was very fond of flying and he became the first Indian to pass the pilot’s examination in 1929. He was instrumental in the formation of Tata Aviation Service in 1932.

Work Life – JRD was elected as the Chairman of Tata & Sons in 1938. There were 14 enterprises under Tata when JRD took over as the chairman and when he left in 1988 Tata & Sons was a group of 95 enterprises. He was a phenomenal leader and he also served as the trustee of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust from its inception in 1932. This trust had established Asia’s first cancer hospital known as the Tata Memorial Centre for Cancer, Research and Treatment at Mumbai in 1941. Apart from it, the trust also established Tata Institute of Social Sciences (1936), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (1945) (TIFR), as well as the National Centre for Performing Arts.

Achievements – JRD Tata served as the chairman of Tata & Sons for period of 50 years. He had expanded the Tata & Sons business to new horizons and achieved many milestones in his journey. He was credited with the launching of Air India International as being the first international airline of India. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1992. He is regarded as one of the most enterprising Indian entrepreneurs and his vision had led to the formation of one of the largest industrial houses of India.

JRD Tata was awarded with numerous prizes and awards throughout his life. His notable awards include Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Guggenheim Medal for aviation, United Nations Population Award and many others.

Adi Godrej Child hood/Education – Adi Godrej was born in business Family. Burjorji Godrej was his father and mother’s name was Jai Godrej. He left India at a tender age of 17 to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was interested in studying the mechanical engineering but he switched to management later on. When he came back to India after completing his studies, Adi Godrej joined the family business. Godrej was into manufacturing locks and vegetable-based soaps before current century. In fact, the Godrej products were the first indigenously manufactured products that replaced the foreign brands from the Indian scene.

Childhood/Education – Azim Hashim Premji was born on July 24, 1945 and he studied the Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, USA. Due to unfortunate death of his father, he was called to take over the family business. He started managing his family business at a young age of 21 years in 1966. At a time when Azim Premji took over the company, Wipro was into hydrogenated cooking fats. It got diversified later into ethnic ingredient based toiletries, bakery fats, hair care soaps, lighting products, baby toiletries, and hydraulic cylinders.
