Biography- Indian Sportsperson – Abhinav Bindra
Born : 28th September, 1982
Abinav Bindra is the Olympic gold winner of India that has made the billion plus citizens of nation proud with his exemplary performance in Olympics. He is the first ever Indian to win the individual Olympic gold medal in 108 years. He is a remarkable shooter that has inspired millions of sportsperson in the country to nurture and work for Olympic Gold.
Abhinav was born in Dehra Dun to Dr.Apjit Bindra and Babli Bindra. His parents own the business and promote the Hi-tech Group of companies. He hails from rich Punjabi Khatri family and completed his studies from Dun School, Dehradun; St. Stephens School, Chandigarh and Colorado University. From the childhood, Abhinav had a keen interest in Shooting. He has started shooting as a professional sports at an early age of 15. He became the youngest Indian athlete that represented India at 2000 Olympic Games.
Abhinav won the bronze medal at the Junior World Cup at Munich in 2001. He had created world record in that event. He had won the gold medal at 2002 Manchester Commonwealth games. In 2001, he was awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
At Beijing Olympics Games 2008, Abhinav Bindra became the first Indian to win an Individual Olympic gold medal in 10mt air rifle shooting. Earlier the gold medal was won by Indian hockey team in 1980. He became qualified for the Beijing Olympics by winning the gold medal at the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships. On his return home after winning the Gold medal for India, he was rewarded by many state govts and private associations for such a remarkable feat.

Biography – Indian Sportsperson- Saina Nehwal
Born : 17th of March 1990
Saina Nehwal is regarded as the prolific Indian Badminton player and she is arguably the best female Indian Badminton player currently in India. She has achieved some remarkable feats in past one year like achieving the 2nd ranking in the world, winning three International tournaments back to back and upsetting top seeded players in World Badminton. Her biggest achievement is that she became the first Indian woman to reach the Quart Final round at the Olympic Games. She was awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award this year for her magnificent performance in International tournaments.
Saina Nehwal belongs to the Hisar in Haryana and she got her badminton genes from both of her parents including Dr. Harvir Singh and mother Usha Rani. Her parents were former State Badminton Champions. Dr. Harvir Singh encouraged her daughter to took up game of badminton. Saina started playing badminton at a tender age of 8 under the careful eyes of her coach Nani Prasad. She adopted a tough training schedule from the beginning. She was trained further under S.M. Arif who is a Dronacharya Award winning Badminton Coach. The Pullela Gopichand’s Academy of Badminton became the training ground of Saina Nehwal where she had developed her game and polished her skills.
She won the National Junior Championship in the year 2004, and defended it again in 2005. She won the National Senior Championship in 2006 and successfully repeated it in 2007 again. In addition to this, she has also won the All India Jr. Ranking Tournaments held at Chennai in 2005 and All India Senior Ranking Tournament at Mumbai. She was also the clear winner at the National Games that took place at Guwahati.
Saina has shown her mettle at the international badminton scene by defeating many top seeded players. She won the Super Series tournament, by clinching the Indonesian open in 2009 with victory over higher-ranked Chinese Wang Lin. She continued her winning streak by winning second Super Series title of her career and won Singapore Open title on June 20, 2010. She completed her hat trick of title by winning Indonesian Open on June 27, 2010.
Biography – Indian Sportsperson – Vishwanathan Anand
Born: 11 December 1969
Viswanathan Anand is regarded as the greatest sportsperson of India who has dominated the game of chess for so many years consistently. He has been the personification of chess in India and is highly acclaimed chess player across the world. His glorious career spans 25 years till now and still counting. He has seen success in every format of the game and taken Indian chess to great heights. He has been immensely successful at both the national and the international levels. Viswanathan Anand is the chess icon for aspiring chess players who has dominated the world of chess since the beginning of his career.
At a very early age of six years, he started learning chess and won the National Sub-Junior Chess Championship in 1983 when he was only 14. He became the youngest Indian player to be entitled as International Master (IM). At age of 16, he became the National Chess Champion and won the World Junior Chess Championshipin 1987. From 2000 to 2002, he held the FIDE World Chess Championship and in 2007, he became the undisputed World Champion. He successfully defended his title in 2008 against Vladimir Kramnik. He is the first player in chess history who has won the World Championship in all three formats including Knockout, Tournament, and Match. Recently he has defended his title against Veselin Topalov in the World Chess Championship 2010.

Biography – Indian Sportsperson – Pankaj Advani
Pankaj Advani is a highly acclaimed and talented Indian Billiards and Snooker player. He is regarded most promising Billiards player of India in recent times. He is the first player in the history of billiards who has completed a Grand Double in Billiards. He studied at Frank Anthony Public School in Bangalore and was a brilliant student. He completed his graduation from Mahaveer Jain College, Bangalore.
Pankaj won his first title at an early age of 12 in 1997 when he was the winner of B.S. Sampath Memorial Handicap Tournament. Thereafter Pankaj never looked back and created numerous records both at State and National level. He won the Indian Junior Billiards Championship in 2000 and defended the title successfully by winning it 7 times in a row. He cliched the Indian Snooker Championship In the year 2003 and won it continuously for 4 years in a row. When he was only 17 years old, Pankaj won the Senior National Billiards Championship. He was the youngest Indian Player to do that. At the age of 19, he won the Senior National Snooker Championship and again he became the youngest player to achieve that feat.
Pankaj stormed the international Billiards scene by winning the IBSF World Snooker Championship in 2003 at the age of 18 years. In 2005, Pankaj created records after records. He began the year by winning the Asian Snooker Championship 2005 title in India. After this, he won the Double World Billiards titles in both Points and Time Format. This event was held at Malta. Pankaj created a world record by winning both the World Billiards titles within the same year. In year 2005, Pankaj became the first Indian to win 5 Billiard titles within same year including World Championship (Time), World Championship (Points), Junior National, Senior National, and Asian Championship.
